Heat therapy (hot packs):
- for temporary pain relief of aching muscle and joints, nagging back pain and menstrual cramps
Cold therapy (cold packs):
- to help reduce swelling after an injury, cool down temperature, ease headaches and toothaches, and relieve minor burns.
Application:
Two ways for Hot Application:
- Heating with Hot Water
1. Boil approximately 4-5 litres of water and turn off the heat
2. Immerse the pack into hot water for approximately 10 minutes.
3. Remove the pack from hot water and always use the hot/cold pack together with the towel. - Heating with a Microwave Oven
As the power of different microwave ovens vary, you may need to find suitable heating time carefully.
1. Before starting heating, flatten the pack by pressing it and ensure the gel inside is distributed evenly.
2.If the pack is stored at room temperature, heat it up to a high temperature for 50 seconds (as 1000W microwave oven), Leave it for 50 seconds and then start using. If more heat is needed, heat up the pack for 10 more seconds. Leave it for 1 minute, and then start using. Repeat this step until the appropriate temperature is reached.
3. If the pack is stored n the refrigerator, heat it up to a high temperature fo 75 second. Leave it for 75 seconds and then start using. If more heat is needed, heat up the pack for 10 more seconds. Leave it for 1 minute, and then start using. Repeat this step until the appropriate temperature is reached.
Cold Application
- Store the pack in a refrigerator so that. itis always read for use or place it into a freezer for at least 2 hours.
- Always use the hot/cold pack together with towel to insulate the cold. In case of severe injuries, wet the towel before applications for greater cold penetration. Do not apply directly on the skin if the pack is taken out straight from the freezer.
- Leave the cold pack on for 15-20 minutes. Repeat every 1-1.5 hours as needed.
Safety Instructions:
- Warp the pack in a towel before use
- Do not apply the pack directly on skins
- For children, use only under supervision or have been instructed on how to use safety
